Dr. Dean
Dr. Mark H. Dean, D.O., graduated in 1995 from the University of Medicine and Dentistry, School of Osteopathic Medicine of New Jersey. He then went on to complete an internship at Case Western Reserve in Cleveland, Ohio, and a residency at Sun Coast Hospital, Nova Southeastern University School of Osteopathic Medicine, Largo, Florida. Dr. Dean pursued additional training in Interventional Pain Management and Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine. He is board certified through and a member of the American Osteopathic Association, American Academy of Osteopathy, Society for Pain Practice Management, and the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians. Dr. Dean integrates Osteopathic manual treatment with interventional pain management, focusing on comprehensive treatment of spinal injuries. In addition to providing interventional pain management techniques such as joint and epidural injections and nerve blocks, Dr Dean is skilled in multiple manipulative techniques, including impulse techniques, muscle energy techniques, Myofascial release, counter-strain techniques, cranial osteopathy, facilitated positional release , and spinal manipulation under anesthesia, (SMUA). Dr. Dean lectures regularly throughout Virginia on spinal injuries and treatment for pain management. Dr. Dean has a partnership with Philips Medical involving the development of new 3D imaging techniques of the spine. The Charlottesville Surgical Center at Pantops, where Dr. Dean is Medical Director, is the only location in the state of Virginia with the new technology.
